Personal Quotes
Not only do I not want to be stereotyped as this Asian girl who fights - gee, what a wonder - but also I have more to offer than that.
I'm just totally into being strong. There's something about wanting to get a jar or whatever out of a high cupboard, or moving a sofa over because my dog's bone rolled under it, and not having to call anyone for help. There's comfort in that.
When you come to America, it's a very serious thing. It's not like you arrive and they say, "Hey, come on! Do movies!" I can't just be hopping around. I have to focus and be still and make sure that I put the time and effort in. Because if I don't, I could lose it like that.

Birth Name
Madeline Rose Zima
Nickname
Mad, Maddie, Madsters
Height
5' 8" (1.73 m)
Mini Biography
Madeline Zima began her acting career at the age of seven and has developed into one of the most seasoned and diverse young actresses, today. Equally skilled at comedy, improv and drama, she's worked continuously for the last decade in critically-acclaimed projects. She was born in New Haven, Connecticut, grew up in Pennsylvania and, early on, had a New York agent that kept her busy modeling and doing commercials.
She and her sister, Vanessa Zima, were discovered by Woody Allen for his movie, Alice (1990). She actually quit show business, the week when she was urged to come in for her sixth call back for The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (1992). She came back for one more audition and booked the role of "Emma". She booked the movie and has never stopped working since that time. It was both Madeline and Julianne Moore's first film, moreover, was directed by Academy Award-winning director and writer, Curtis Hanson. Madeline was getting good critical notice for her first film role.
Madeline followed that dramatic thriller with a short film that Daryl Hannah directed that was a favorite at Sundance called The Last Supper (1995), where Madeline, as a tiny wily child, scared away her mother's abusive boyfriend by convincing him that she and her mother were cannibals. She followed that with the comedies, Mr. Nanny (1993), Our Song, a pilot with George Hamilton, and finally "The Nanny" (1993). On "The Nanny" (1993), where writing changed daily, Madeline honed her comic timing on the six-year CBS comic hit that is now a linchpin of the Lifetime daily programming. By this time, the pilot of "The Nanny" (1993) was picked up and Madeline moved from the East Coast to L.A., when "The Nanny" (1993) became a hit show.
She has starred in TV films: The Secret Path (1999) (TV). Her sister, Yvonne Zima played the seven-year-old counterpart to her characters. She played the daughter of the late John Ritter and Marg Helgenberger on Lethal Vows (1999) (TV). The Sandy Bottom Orchestra (2000) (TV) was a starring role where she learned virtuoso violin pieces, which were so impressively played, even the music consultant on the movie, thought Madeline was a professional violinist.
After a worldwide search in all English-speaking countries, Madeline was the choice to play Lucille Ball as a teenager, in the CBS mini-series, Lucy (2003) (TV) (aka "Redhead"). She followed that up playing the wicked stepsister of Hilary Duff in A Cinderella Story (2004). Madeline took up improv and sketch and comedy-writing with hopes of one day being on SNL.
Madeline had has a string of independent films added to her resume. She stars in Dimples (2008), a horror film. In Looking for Sunday (2006), a coming-of-age drama, she plays the likable yoga instructor girlfriend of Michael Weston. She recently wrapped the black comedy Legacy (2008) (V), about three sorority sister murder suspects, where Madeline is one of the suspects. In the pilot, "3 lbs." (2006), produced by Peter Ocko, she plays a violinist again, this time with a brain tumor. Reviews in Entertainment Weekly said her performance was the only reason to watch the show. In a return to television, she agreed to play the mysterious and interesting character "Mia" on the new Showtime series, "Californication" (2007).
When not working on movies, Madeline sings and plays guitar, loves horseback riding, writes songs, screenplays, is rehabbing her house and is working on a novel. She loves to snowboard, paint, dance and swim and spends lots of time with her sisters, who are also actresses and writers, Vanessa Zima (Cavedweller (2004), Ulee's Gold (1997)) and Yvonne Zima ("ER" (1994) and The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)).

Mini Biography
The woman who will always be remembered as the crazy, accident-prone, lovable Lucy Ricardo was born Lucille Desiree Ball in Jamestown, New York, on August 6, 1911. Her father died before she was four, and her mother worked several jobs, so she and her younger brother were raised by their grandparents. Always willing to take responsibility for her brother and young cousins, she was a restless teenager who yearned to "make some noise". She entered a dramatic school in New York, but while her classmate Bette Davis received all the raves, she was sent home; "too shy." She found some work modeling for Hattie Carnegie's and, in 1933, she was chosen to be a "Goldwyn Girl" and appear in the film Roman Scandals (1933).
She was put under contract to RKO and several small roles, including one in Top Hat (1935), followed. Eventually, she received starring roles in B-pictures and, occasionally, a good role in an A-picture, like in Stage Door (1937) or The Big Street (1942). While filming Too Many Girls (1940), she met and fell madly in love with a young Cuban actor-musician named Desi Arnaz. Despite different personalities, lifestyles, religions and ages (he was six years younger), he fell hard, too, and after a passionate romance, they eloped and were married in November, 1940. Lucy soon switched to MGM, where she got better roles in films such as Du Barry Was a Lady (1943); Best Foot Forward (1943) and the Katharine Hepburn-Spencer Tracy vehicle Without Love (1945). In 1948, she took a starring role in the radio comedy "My Favorite Husband", in which she played the scatterbrained wife of a Midwestern banker. In 1950, CBS came knocking with the offer of turning it into a television series. After convincing the network brass to let Desi play her husband and to sign over the rights to and creative control over the series to them, work began on the most popular and universally beloved sitcom of all time.
